Topic: Is the Summon spell the new Random Esoteric Creature Generator?

I love The Random Esoteric Creature Generator (RECG). I also love the Summon spell in the Grindhouse rules. As I re-read the Summon spell, I wondered if it is the 2011 James's answer to the 2008 James's RECG.

After all, for years James has moved ever more in the direction of the weird. The monsters randomly created by the Summon spell are, on average, weirder than monsters created with the RECG.

Thoughts (from James or from anyone)?

I suppose you could use it that way, but to me the Summon creatures are all rather unearthly. For campaigns that use "monsters as fantastic animals," I don't know that it would fit very well.
