Introducing Fuelblooded.

(posted March 2006)

First, What is your name and what do you do in the band?

Danny Tunker, guitarist in Fuelblooded.

What does the term "heavy metal" mean to you? What significance does heavy metal have to your band?

To me, Heavy Metal means an accurate sonic representation of emotion. Be it rage, kindness, beauty, rebellion, the right to party, whatever. I think most of the guys in our band think so.

How does your nationality influence the type of music you play?

I think people will be hard-pressed to discover our nationality through our music. On top of that, I don't really believe that music or any form of art can be categorized by which country it came from. Especially these days with the internet and all.

If you are releasing music for sale, how is your band not simply a commercial enterprise?

Releasing this album is a result of hard work of dedicated musicians who want to give something unique to the scene, not necessarily for our own commercial gain. This CD is certainly not gonna make us any money, don't worry about that ;-)

There are a ton of bands releasing albums these days. Why should anybody care about your band?

Fuelblooded has something to offer that could appeal to a wide range of metal fans. The music was created with a great ear for sonic detail and there is a lot for listeners to latch on to.

Complete this sentence: "The ideal fan of this band is somebody who..."

... buys music without caring about trends. Someone who just enjoys good music created by skilled musicians who care about their craft.

What are the best and worst trends that you are seeing in heavy metal lately?

Trends will always happen, I never cared for them either way. Metal seems to be bigger than ever, so no complaints from me.

What is the greatest challenge facing you as a band?

Getting ourselves heard by a bigger audience and staying focussed on our goals.

Rank these musicians, from first to last, according to their historical importance to heavy metal. (Trey Azagthoth, Joey DeMaio, Ronnie James Dio, Leif Edling, Steve Harris, Tony Iommi, Quorthon, Chuck Schuldiner, Jesper Strömblad, Tom G. Warrior)

Well, according to historical importance would be boring since everyone doing these interviews will probably start with Tony Iommi and stop with Jesper Strömblad, so I'll do it according to personal preference. Steve Harris, Jesper Strömblad, Chuck Schuldiner, Tony Iommi, Ronnie James Dio, Trey Azagthoth, Joey DeMaio, Leif Edling, Tom G. Warrior, Quorthon

Rank these magazines, from first to last, according to their integrity and commitment to heavy metal. If you are unfamiliar with one of them, note that and put that mag at the end. (Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles, Isten, Lamentations of the Flame Princess, Legacy, Metal Maniacs, Miasma, Pit, Scream, Snakepit, Terrorizer)

Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles, Terrorizer, Scream, Lamentations of the Flame Princess, Metal Maniacs. I don't know any of the other magazines.

Read either Impure Metal or Scum and give your opinions on the article. Or tell us about your favorite piece of writing about heavy metal instead.

I don't care about articles like that at all. When I read about metal I want to be entertained, not preached to. That's probably why I like tour reports or studio journals more than anything in metal writing. Also I couldn't be bothered by anyone's opinion on why some kind of music isn't pure. There's two kinds of music: good and bad. I enjoy the 'good' and try to avoid the 'bad'.

What five new albums are you liking lately, and why?

  • In Flames Come Clarity One of my favorite releases by In flames. Unbelievable!
  • Mastodon Leviathan Not really new, but ever since it came out I haven't been bored by it for a moment.
  • Nevermore This Godless Endeavor Not too new either, but a masterpiece in its' own right.
  • God Forbid IV - Constitution of Treason A concept album, but every song can stand on its own.
  • Donald Fagan Morph The Cat I'm a big Steely Dan fan, so any release with Donald Fagan on it is a treat. And this one is a diamond.

Final words?

Thanks for the interview! Inflict the Inevitable will be released by Copro on March, 20th 2006. We're fueled and ready to start the bleeding! See you at one of our shows.
